ChromeOS runs sandboxed Linux via Crostini:

ChromeOS also runs Android apps since the ChromeOS app store was essentially deprecated.
For Android to replace ChromeOS it needs to be able to run sandboxed Linux similar to the way ChromeOS does.
I don't really get why people would want to use ChromeOS, but that's another topic :-).
I understand how it's fun. But fun is not a reason to put resources into pushing something into production.
A lot of Googlers use ChromeBooks and some of them might want it because ChromeOS is going to be replaced by Android.
